Tales of AN08! The good, the bad, and the.. ugly?posted May 27th 2008, 5:35PM
Mood: Cheerful
Music: "BOARDING" - T.M. Revolution
(copied and pasted from dA)
FYI, most of this was copied from my posts in other forums, like cosplay.com and the AN forum, Teahouse of the Maple Moon.
First off, it was a good con. ^___^ I had fun despite the rampant idiocy on Sunday.
I was SO happy to meet many of my fellow deviants/artists! Let's see:
inu-fma88fan (bought some prints and buttons from her)
ichigo-oh (bought a print off of her)
Ty Daisuke (bought an Axel key chain from her)
meronine & budgie (didn't buy anything, but got to meet them)
spookymeggie (wasn't in artist's alley, but it was great seeing her again!! X3)
I saw some other art I recognized, but I can't remember the names right now. D: For once I spent more in Artist's Alley than in the Dealer's Room.
Oh, as for purchases (other than art), I got a bunch of Card Captor Sakura figurines for $5 at the Nominoichi (Flea Market), a cute white bunny hat from Crazy Heads (I also have a Panda hat from them), and a Shadow Heart plushie. ^__^
My photos: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Nickle4aPickle/AnimeNorth08/ (At the time of posting this, I still need to edit and up-load the ones from the Pokemon photoshoot, but everything else is up. ^^)
Now for the copied and pasted parts... first the bad stuff, then the good stuff! ^__^
~ On Saturday, we kinda lost our friend... and it was his first con. ;^; Lucky, he forgave us.
~ *Certain* people at a *certain* photoshoot almost not letting me in pictures because there was already someone from *their* group that was dressed up as the same character I was. I am NOT naming names or what shoot it was, even if the people in question ask me themselves. So don't even ask who.
Anyways, I just think it's stupid when people get all elitist with photoshoots. If you don't want multiple characters, then schedule your own private photoshoot with your own photographer. DX
~ Idiots at the J-Pop Dance ruining it for everyone. I swear, if I EVER MEET WHO WAS DOING THAT SHIT, THEY ARE DEAD. Luckily, I didn't have to deal with any perverts, drug dealers, or bon-fires first-hand.
~ The biggest dissapointment of the weekend for me was not only the fir alarm being pulled, but who it was. During the con on Sunday I found out it was one of my friends (again, NOT saying who, so don't ask) - I already yelled at them for it, but I'm still greatly disappointed.
About the fire alarm itself - I am an EXTREMELY paranoid person, so once I heard that there was some sort of fire, I started to panic. We were on the 5th floor - what if the fire in the lobby spread and took out the support beams? The floors would crash down one by one, and we'd be crashed to death in the rubble. These types of thoughts ran through my head as I told my bf to pack EVERYTHING - and we did in about 2 min's time. There was one point when the hotel staff member that was making the announcements said "May I have your attention ple-" He was cut off, and I just panicked more! I thought that the fire had spread! D8
Luckily, a couple mins later people started coming back upstairs and said everything was OK and that it was a "false alarm." I was able to get back to sleep, but not for a very long time. I had a stomach ache and I was short of breath for a long time, but sleep eventually came with the exhaustion.
But then finding out who did it... the person themself told me... like I said before, I yelled at them, but my disappointment reaches farther than what I said to them. I now don't even know what to think of this person anymore... I've known this person for a few years now... I feel kind of... betrayed. ;_;
~ I thought the huggers got quite out-of-hand on Sunday. I heard one person who was just trying to go get food say to a VERY persistent hugger something along the lines of "Don't you F'ing touch me." Obviously, if someone doesn't want a hug, DON'T BUG THEM ABOUT IT! D: And hugging cars...? That's just not smart. D: I think those people just better feel lucky that none of the people in the cars got uber-pissed and gunned it. :\
~ Aside from the rampant stupidity already mentioned... not too many other complaints... high prices with some vendors in the dealer's room was annoying. ;o; There was one guy who was selling Heartless plushies for $30, and even on Sunday he wouldn't come down! Luckily I was able to find one for $25 at another vendor... a MUCH NICER one at that. X3 They offered me a discount if I bought a Sakura (Tsubasa) one as well, but I already have one... ; (I was cosplaying the outfit that the plushie was wearing. ^^)
(Now for the good stuff! ^__^)
~ Getting to see my Canadian friends again! (I'm from NY, USA) Though I missed one I was really looking forward to seeing... ;^;
~ Getting to meet some of my MOST FAVORITE ARTISTS from deviantART and buy prints directly from them. ^_____^ Such nice people!! X3 *hugs them all*
~ Getting a random HUGE glow stick while dancing to the Hare Hare Yukai at the dance. X3 Thanks so much to whoever gave it to me!! ^___^ This makes 2 dances in a row that I've recieved something for dancing well/being cool (last year I got a HUGE stick of Pocky for "being cool.")!
~ Fighting games photoshoot. There were SSSOOO many different games/series being represented!! X3 And some of the same people from last year's were there... Iori, Shingo... I love you guys. And OMG, the Green Ranger FOR THE WIN.
~ YMCA at the small CLAMP photoshoot!
~ Having a random person recognize my Momoko cosplay!! ^____^ He really made my day, because it didn't seem like anyone knew who I was . ;o; And as we parted ways, he told me, "If you see a Terry, kick him in the balls, cuz you're better than him!!" DD
(And now for shameless self-plugs...)
Did you get my picture?
Friday: I was HYDE's character Adam from "Kagen no Tsuki"/"Last Quarter." No one stopped me for pics (I wasn't surprised there. ) but maybe someone got me in a random shot of the pre-reg line or something. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Nickle4aPickle/AnimeNorth08/32_MeHYDE.jpg <--Reference
Saturday Morning: I was Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club. I was not hosting at the picnic, but I was in the photoshoot and the "commoner" games that took place after it. ^^ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Nickle4aPickle/AnimeNorth08/51_2Haruhis.jpg <--I'm the taller one on the left.
Saturday Afternoon: Momoko from King of Fighters XI. Hardly anyone recognized me, mainly because she's a brand-new character to the franchise. I was at the Fighting Games photoshoot, so if you have any pictures of that, I might be in them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Nickle4aPickle/AnimeNorth08/FightingGamesPhotoshoot/25.jpg <--I'm the girl on the right.
Saturday Night: My own Cyber Raver outfit. Again, no one stopped me for pics, but maybe I'm in a random pic or video. The most distinctive feature of the outfit would probably be my Cyberlox/dreds... http://b9.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01281/98/21/1281891289_l.jpg <--here's a ref of JUST the dreds (sadly, I forgot to have my bf take a pic of my outfit. Also, Please not that I was wearing a black and white bandana, not the purple head band in the ref pic. ) For the rest of my outfit, I was wearing a fishnet hoodie with a black camisol/spaghetti strap tank top under neath, a short black skirt, fishnet tights, and black and white Converse sneakers with pink shoe laces. I also had a blue glow stick on a string around my neck (though sometimes I took it off to dance with), a kitty bell choker, and various bracelets and glow stick bracelets on my wrists.
Sunday: Princess Sakura from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles. I did not have a wig or short hair, just my regular hair down. I also carried a cute little Mokona plushie with me. ^__^ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Nickle4aPickle/AnimeNorth08/115_MeSakura.jpg <--Reference
If you have any pictures of me, please PM me on here or e-mail me at Nickle4aPikcle (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks for looking! ^__^
Alrighty... I'm done. ; Thanks for reading all that if you did!! DD;;
